First Day
My brother's first day at work went well. We had lunch yesterday as his shift begins at 2PM. While having pizza and pasta at DiMark's, he expressed nervousness and excitement, asking me what normally constitutes a person's first work day. Since he knew there was some sort of training they would have to undergo before actually taking calls, I mentioned there may be some of that as well as an orientation.
At training, he and 25 others were told they were the top 2% of the new hires tasked to manage the most complicated and challenging function of booking travels for US businessmen and companies. They were to have 3 months training, as compared to the rest of the other hires who needed only 2 weeks.
He had a one-hour break at 6PM, which he and two girls who graduated from a school near his used to eat and talk about renting a condo near their place of work. Then he caught the last trip home, running from the office to the station while rain was starting to pour.
Day 1 in little brother's new life phase: uneventful because it was your ordinary day at the office, yet remarkable for being the first he will always remember.
