The Year of the Rooster

True enough, I worked overtime yesterday to finish a presentation for our group head. They did say this year will be a busy one for dragons, which is my chinese astrological sign. Well it better be prosperous as well, for all the grief this 'propitious' start of the year has brought.

As I was coming home last night, I couldn't help but wonder at what really lies ahead for all of us this year. Fortune tellers are having a heyday predicting stuff while the rest of us normal folk perform all sorts of rituals to bring in good luck. 'Show me the money!' seem the motto for a lot of us who, in eating twelve grapes at New Year's Eve, or displaying twelve kinds of round fruits at the table, or even wearing clothes with polka dots hope that the Apocalyptic tail-end of 2004 stay in 2004.

Per my research in the net, the Year of the Rooster will bring more calamities and natural disasters. This has to do with the dominant elements in 2005 which are wood atop metal, its natural destroyer. The position of these elements, according to Raymond Lo (www.raymond-lo.com), is a portent of fire and the destruction of nature and the environment. With the dominance of metal, assassinations are also likely.

I was disappointed to learn that the fires we experienced beginning November 2004 will most likely continue, not to mention political instability and discord among or between countries.

In another site I was able to browse (www.chineseastrologyonline.com), the general prediction was that the conflicts that started in 2004 will continue and last longer in 2005. In addition, money will be 'easy come, easy go' for most people this year.

A silver lining for the Year of the Green Chicken, per the site's resident psychics, is that love and new relationships will be prevalent.

Gloomy as these forecasts are, we are still the makers of our individual fortunes. Let's hope there's more for us in 2005 than new lovelives, although these are always welcome!
